From Overture Maps Places, an open map dataset contributed to by several providers. Every number is parsed against its country format, validated, normalised to international dialling format, and discarded if it cannot be verified as a possible number.
Sea-front regions carry the densest lodging stock and the highest share of properties that publish a direct line — roughly twice the rate of an average inland area in this dataset. Coastal destinations were therefore prioritised when the directory was expanded, though major inland cities are included too.
No, and it does not claim to. Open map data carries no usable coastline for that calculation, so no per-property distance is published. What is published is the destination’s own character and Overture’s resort classification — both are facts in the source data.
