Whose timezone does a hotel cancellation deadline use?
The property’s. “Free cancellation until 48 hours before check-in” is counted against the local clock at the hotel, not the clock on your phone. If you are several timezones away the deadline can land on a different calendar day than you expect.
How is the deadline calculated?
The tool takes your check-in date, the property’s stated check-in hour and its local timezone, then subtracts the notice period the policy requires. The result is shown in both the property’s local time and your own.
Is this a legal or binding calculation?
No. It is an arithmetic aid. The only binding deadline is the one written in your confirmation. Use this to know when to ask, then confirm the exact moment in writing with the property.
