Dalt Vila, the walled upper town, sits above a harbour and a marina, with the old fishing quarter of La Marina below. It is the most interesting place to stay on the island and the one that works best without a car. Streets inside the walls are steep and stepped, and central parking is genuinely difficult.

On the west coast, Sant Antoni combines the sunset strip with much of the island’s club infrastructure and a long bay. It is the loudest base and the most straightforward one for a nightlife-led trip. Ask specifically how far the property is from the strip if you intend to sleep before dawn.

The north is countryside: pine hills, small coves, farm hotels and villages that empty early. It is the quietest part of Ibiza by a wide margin. A car is necessary, several coves are reached by rough tracks, and evening options are limited to whatever is in the nearest village.

Ibiza Airport lies south of the town, which makes Ibiza Town and the southern beaches short transfers and the north a longer drive. Ferries also connect the island to the mainland and to Formentera.
